Take Home Folder and Homework - Your child will have a take home folder that they will bring to and from school daily. This folder will contain important papers from school. Please check it daily and remove graded papers and other dated papers. This folder will also hold a monthly calendar where we will record test dates at least two days in advance. It will also include a guide to helpful websites and resources that we use in class and/or that you might find helpful to reinforce skills that are being taught at school or to help study for a particular test. We will not be assigning daily homework, but your child is encouraged to use those resources to review at home!
Progress Book -You should be able to view your child’s assignment scores and subject averages within the next few weeks in progress book. If you are new to the district or forget your child’s username and password to enter progress book, please contact the office to retrieve that information. Also, please note that student averages are calculated using a weighted scale. In fourth grade, your child will receive letter grades in ALL subject areas which now includes Science and Social Studies. Language Arts and Science grades will be assigned by Mrs. Eschmeyer. In Language Arts, 60% of the grade will be daily classwork assignments, grammar work, and small writing pieces and labeled Classwork. Large writing pieces and weekly Reading assessments will make up 30% of the grade and will be labeled Assessments. Spelling tests will be 10% and will be labeled Spelling. In Science, Tests/Quizzes are worth 30%, Classwork 35%, and Lab Work makes up 35% of the grade. Math and Social Studies grades will be assigned by Mrs. Kelly. In Math, assessments are worth 45% and classwork 55%. In Social Studies, tests/quizzes and classwork are each worth 50% of the grade.
